UE5 | Platformer | Team Project | Game Jam | Short Timeframe | Gameplay Features

Me and a group of friends took part in a game jam hosted by 1010 games in Summer 2022, taking place over a single weekend we made a small platformer in Unreal Engine 5 and placed 4th overall! Personally my role was in the programming team working on gameplay features. I worked on a grappling hook mechanic (that was unfortunately cut for time, although I do intend to use it in personal projects in the future); The double / Wall jump and towards the end also helped a little with level design and last minute touch ups before submission. This was a really fun project to work on with my friends albeit a little stressful given the short timeframe. I’m hoping to maybe participate in more game jams in the future now with some experience under my belt, hopefully next time trying something with a smaller scope and less moving parts for a more polished experience.
